Be still my heart

I can say that I need a new project like I need a hole in the head !
But - a hole in the head can be good for airing out, right ?
I promise to keep my mouth shut while doing the applique so I will not experience a draft ;-)

In fact I have drawn this block on freezer paper a long time ago, and it has been sitting on my desk, the wreath cut out, for months.

May Britt showed me her lovely blocks yesterday, and my pulse raise again.
May Britt, you have to put yours on your blog asap !
The blocks finish 6" and come from the book Applique Designs - My Mother Taught Me To Sew, by Faye Anderson.

Reading Patti's blog too convinced me that this is meant to be, not for a big quilt, more for the pleasure of small blocks and quiet hand work.

I miss the early morning hours, with a cup of tea, radio and some quiet hand work.

I had the pleasure of meeting May Britt yesterday and we had some lovely hours together. I made her this heart for her collection. It is 6" and it was fun to make this gift for her.
I will soon blog my finished Crazy Quilt RR.
Even if it has been nice doing Crazy Quilt my heart is more set on doing piecing and applique :-)
I have some ideas in my head to combine the three - some day in the foreseeable future.

  2. What a beautiful heart. I like the crazy things because I can combine patchwork and embroidery. But most of the crazy things I see on various blogs are so overloaded with stiches, beads and buttons. But yours is very beautiful and it doesn't has to much and also not to few stiches.

  11. The heart you made is beautiful -- no much to see there!

I don't think you have to have a hole in your head to do another project. It will be lovely!

  12. You had me laughing about the hole in the head comment too. Both of your work - the applique and the CQ are both delightful. I particularly liked the heart and the neat designs and buttons you put on it.
