Hanging upside down

Hanging in there by my toe nails, gravity taking control - gives upside down, right ? ;-)
This has been one of the most stressful weeks in a long time, health wise.
Why is that ?
Besides from not doing very well health wise, I was told last week that if the surgeon in charge of me did not call and make arrangements this week, another very skilled surgeon, whom I trust, is willing to take me in.
Did surgeon #1 call ? Nope - as in nope for 2 months.....
Surgeon #2 is receiving a letter from me on Monday morning. More waiting ahead, but not as stressful. This surgeon can be trusted.
Is the hospital system in Norway good ? Not in my case - that is for sure !

Yesterday I had a private retreat, with the phone next to me, my Watermelon quilt, hoop, spool, thimble and needle.
I turned off all but the VHS and watched several VHSs, taped from TV - Inspector Morse, A touch of Frost - several - both English crimes - and The Pianist - a film about a Jewish pianist during WW2.
I never watch TV during day, but this was good, to keep the mind of the waiting for the phone to call, or rather not. Today I did the same, with book on CD and hand quilting, instead of VHS.

I had the intention of doing 1 hour hand quilting a day on the Watermelon quilt through November, but life can interfere with the best laid plans.
I have decided 1 finished Baptist Fan a day is good, and it takes me about 45 minutes.
I told you I am a slow hand quilter before, didn't I ? ;-)
Anyway - it is November 17., and I have 17 fans quilted now, which is good. I have caught up through these last 2 days.
If my math is right this quilt will take me 84 days to finish, doing one fan a day, which with a bit of slack will be end of January, beginning of February.
Maybe longer if I get my long needed surgery before that - and by the looks of it I will.

  1. Good luck with the new surgeon. 2 months is WAY to long to wait for necessary surgery! (((HUGS)))

Ohhh Hanne, I'm so sorry this week has been such a stressful one for you. Your health is so important, it's so unfair that you have to wait so long for surgery.
I'm sending big hugs and good wishes your way.
    *huge hugs*

  8. I'm sorry to hear the surgeon has kept you waiting. I hope surgeon #2 can help you quickly. Spending an hour a day quilting is such a good idea. I'm glad Judy introduced that concept. DS and I were just talking about The Pianist the other day. It is a good movie. I'll have to rent it again soon.
