Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all!

I am greeting you with nature's own light show, photos taken from my living room window.
The first photo is in the early morning, last week.
We have no snow here this winter - strange indeed - but we had some days of fog, and night frost left the world decorated like an iced cake.
Adding the pink mother of pearl morning light it was spectacular, as was the sundown the same week, sun reflecting in clouds and remnants of fog.

A friend of mine said the other day that I am an everyday person - one who celebrates the small moments in everyday life, like spectacular light in my neighbourhood, a candle, a cup of hot tea, a thread without tangles, and yes, I think she is right. It gives me a lot of pleasure to notice the small good things in life.

2006 was not very nice to me health wise and I am hoping for a surgery date very soon. I have been told that I am in the January-February group on the waiting list and I hope to know a date soon, real soon.
A colostomy is a huge change to the body, but I am ready and as prepared as can be, after 3/4 of a year being sick and housebound.
All that can be tried are tried and a colostomy is the last and final solution.
I am so ready for a more active life outside my own home!
Cross your fingers for me for a date real soon!

I am not one for New Year resolutions but I have some goals that involves finishing my Nearly Insane quilt top. It is 98 blocks, and I have 9 - hmmm - should keep me busy for a while ;-)

The Watermelon quilt will be finished hand quilted in 2007 and I have a Snowman Collector BOM with all the applique done that I want to have in my guild's biannual show in October.

The before blogged angel BOM will also be started - maybe today.

I also will like to end 2007 with less fabrics in my shelves than I have today.

My first, last and most important goal is to have fun. Girls just want to have fun, right? ;-)

I really appreciate all my blog friends and I am looking forward to spend creative time with you all in 2007!

  1. I wish you a happy new year. And I hope you get a date for the operation soon. When someone experience a difficult time they learn to appriciate the small things. I look forward now to list my 2007 goals and they will be realistic goals I hope. Main goal is like yours, to have fun with what I am doing.
    A big hug from me.

  5. Wishing you good health in the new year, Hanne. So often we fail to celebrate and notice the small events and things in our lives and quite frankly they are usually more important than what we perceive is HUGE. Those little things and events make the huge ones.

    Big Hugs to you!

  6. My fingers are crossed for you, Hanne. There has been enough waiting around now. And even if this surgery is nothing any of us would wish for, I am sure your life will be much better when it's over and your body settles with the changes.

  8. I'm sorry to hear of your health issues but I think you are right - if you can just get the surgery and move ahead with life things will be better.

  9. Adding my wishes for an early date to those expressed by others. You don't say what your problem is - colitis or Crohn's or something else - but whatever it is I know how debilitating it can be. My daughter-in-law was diagnosed with Crohn's when she was 12, and the husband of one of my Tangled Threads friends has been dealing with sever colitis for years now. Let us know when you are scheduled, so we can be sending lots of positive healing thoughts and prayers your way during and after the surgery.

No snow in Norway - how very strange that sounds!

Happy New Year Hanne from Canada !
I've been a regular reader of your blog but leaving no trace before today of my passage...I love your quilting and your ...how can I say...my english is somewhat deficient ! Let's say your mood, your moto, your "well_turned" mind, hoping you can understand what I mean !
Having no more snow in my area(near Quebec city, see on a map...) as in yours, just completely unusual...
I wish you a very happy, snowy and smiling New Year, good health and healing after your surgery.

  16. Hanne, my father is a colon cancer survivor who has had a colostomy for, um, 9 or 10 years now. If I can be of any help- he has learned a lot about living with it in all these years- just let me know!
