Yes, it hurts (quite a lot), but now it is done - an arthrodesis of the big toe. The inner joint is now removed and fixated.
Isn't the arrow pretty cool ?
It is drawn by the surgeon prior to the surgery yesterday. It is part of the pre op routine to identify the right body part.
I was so close to have surgery performed on the wrong hip many years ago, so I do like the arrow very much.
As I am not able to jump on crutches I will spend a lot of the next 6+ weeks here in my sewing corner, in my wheel chair.
A good place to be, after all :-)
as well as some hexagons and some knitting for preemies, for Amandaprosjektet, which is providing hospitals with socks, hats, mittens and blankets for preemies.
The hexagons have 1.25" sides, so you see, the hat and the socks are not big.

I hope your recovery goes well and that you work your way through all of your projects!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are OK. You can get plenty of sewing done in the next 6 weeks.

Klem,
Laila
Praying for a fast recovery for you~
ReplyDeleteGreat excuse to spend your time stitching! Hope it's not too painful. Those premmie things are so weenie, they should give them lots of warmth.
ReplyDeleteWhat is that quilt you're working on? I love the fabric you have used.
I'm so glad you've finally had your surgery. Now you can stop worrying about it and heal! Have fun stitching. :-)
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine how horrible this would be if you didn't sew or knit or do some kind of craft? Heal fast!!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a speedy recovery - but what a fabulous reason to sit and stitch! Happy stitching.
ReplyDeleteHanne, I feel your pain my friend. I am two months post op for a subtalar arthrodesis (ankle area) and am now clunking around in a walking boot. It's not very fashionable and could do with some embellishing but it does allow me to remove it for showering and sleeping.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon
hugs

ReplyDeleteI have followed your blog for quite some time now. I do not blog however.
ReplyDeleteI hope the surgery will give you a painfree existence as soon as all is healed. :O)
Take care and keep on stitching!

ReplyDeleteOuch! Your foot looks painful! Enjoy your recovery time with lots of sewing!! Can't wait to see all that you get done!
ReplyDeleteGod bedring, Hanne.
Håper smertene går fort over og at du orker å sy litt. Da har du i alle fall noe å gjøre på, når du må sitte i ro. Riktig god helg! Hilsen Astri i Bergen
dear quilty friend, hanne,
ReplyDeletewhat a relief the surgery is behind you! sending good thoughts for a speedy recovery so you can get back to your normal routine. you're a trooper!
quilty hugs,
ellen
ReplyDeleteGodbedringklem
Good to have the surgery behind you - now on to recovery with healing naps in between stitching - wishing you a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteHope you heal quickly. Enjoy your stitching!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having less pain. May I make you a cup of tea? Feel better soon.
