First Sunday in Advent

P1000727

First Sunday of Advent – a time to start preparing the house for Christmas, and a nice time for lighting candles.

P1000718

I have an Advent Sunday calendar this year too – from May Britt

P1000719

She has prepped this lovely Snow stitchery for me and included my favourite blue DMC floss. I am looking forward to start this one shortly.
Thank you very much, May Britt :-)

P1000724I have tried a new to me cookie recipe today, inspired by Kris’ wonderful cookies at Lollys in Shipshewana.
I think this recipe could do with a little more flour to make a better dough – I guess the Norwegian flour is a little different from the America all purpose flour.

I have been ordered to rest more, so today I have done hand piecing.
Miss Cat loves that a lot, and I have not been able to do any organizing on my desk today. I guess I should hurry up and do some organization now while she is resting elsewhere.

Tonight we light one candle
we light it for joy
It stands there shining by itself
and we who present are
Tonight we light one candle
we light it for joy.

  2. Joy to you also! Such a good friend - May Brit - to give you a prepped snowman to stitch! I only gifted the pattern, not prepped when I gifted it? :)
    Happy stitching!

  5. Hello Hanne,
We met in Shipshewana. I am glad you made it home safe and sound. I am the one with the short hair that was sitting at the other end of your table.
We talked about Superior Threads and I told you about quilter Alex Anderson visiting Superior and the video.

I think I found it for you but my iPad is not letting me copy and paste the address. The title to the YouTube video is, How is a thread donut made - YouTube.
If you google that title you should come up with that video. It is 8:05 minutes. I hope you can find it.

I am very glad to have met you and May Britt.
Take it easy and do some hand sewing!

  6. Dear Hanne, I always enjoy searching your blog and I wish , you take the time it needs to rest ! Now I have a question - I love the 'scandinavian christmas'quilt so much. I have the pattern and also the iron-on-pattern for the stitchery, but it really doesn't work :((( In your blog I saw, you used something upon the linen and stitched throuhg it. Can you please tell me, what you used? I can't wait to begin my quilt :)))
Thank you - German quilter Angelika
