To much of a good thing

To much of a good thing, even if it is gorgeous, still is to much!

I hereby commit to keep on keeping on buying less than I use, until my entire fabric collection has moved into my lovely Ikea shelves.
Yes, there is a goal, defined today :-)

I am re-inspired by Judy, and the company of Judy and others will keep me on track.
In August I took a photo of my fabric collection at the time. I will do it again February 18, and again next August and so forth, to keep myself accountable to myself (and you).

I have more fabrics than I can use in a long time, but I do not feel bad about it - just like it is To Much, and it can and will be changed.
I am going over the big pond in April and I want to shop with a broad smile, guilt free :-)

It will take a long time to really make a dent in the stash, like it did when I reduced my Ufos from less than 100, more than 50 to 1 (!)
The one Ufo is still in progress and I hope to finish it this year.
I have approx. a handful of ongoing projects - not Ufos - that are started and finished within reasonable time, all the time.
I do not like Ufos - they are like cold coffee - it tastes like coffee, but not quite, if you know what I mean?

As we all know, an elephant can not be eaten in one serving, but, it is manageable one serving at a time :-)

  1. Glad you are joining in on Judy's challenge! I know that I need all of the moral support that I can get to keep from bringing more "raw materials" into the house! You can surely do it given what you did with that UFO list. That was awesome!

I can't say anything but BRAVO ! With a "but", however - just a little :) - a REAL dent in your stash and Ufo's is more achievable when you can machine quilt... I'm not using this as an excuse, but when I examine my Ufo's pile (about 15 to 20 for the moment), I can remember that sewing the TOPS was not so long, what makes the pile growing is the time takes to handquilt them, AND, of course, the fact that I can't help starting some new projects (including some handpiecing ones ! - I must be crazy !)....LOL

Anyway, I admire you very much Hanne, because you STICK to your goals !

Hugs & smiles to you !

  7. Together we can do it. We can use the stash and then we can all buy more fabric! :)

  8. Hello.
I always try to reduse my stash...but it is hard to do so.
I allways find more I just need- but I will try hard. Promise- I think. ;-)
You are so clever making ufo's.
    Keep up the good work.

  9. My first visit to your blog (courtesy of Nadine) and what a delight to find another fabricaholic! From browsing your site it seems to me, that you do get lots of projects made (very beautiful ones, at that!) so do not get discouraged with your UFO's.

  11. what a wonderful trip to look forward to! I suppose you won't be coming to the West coast? probably not. a wonderful motivation to keep on forging away at the reducing of the stash and only 1! UFO left? WOW! way to go Hanne. I have spent the last several years working away at my stash...there are times when I see a small dent...but it's not big enough yet!

  12. Oh my - I'd lost total track of your UFO progress. Down to just one - amazing! And that you expect to finish that one this year - what an astounding feat! You are a marvelous example to all of us!
