A lovely Easter tradition

P1050550

This is the third Easter I come to visit May Britt to eat her lovely homemade custard buns, also called Sunshine buns here in Norway :-)
It has been a rainy day, so we have had to stay indoors this year, but Sunshine buns can brighten any day!

002

May Britt has bought a couple of yards of zippers without the zips, so we had a challenge getting all the zips on.

A zipper without zips are of no use!

003 zipper

A sturdy pair of pliers came in handy doing the zipper job!

P1050551

May Britt is blogging her new sewing kit - pop over to her blog to take a look!

P1050556

I have brought a pile of handwork - maybe I even can get something done :-)

P1050546

I have brought some Yoko Saito Log Cabin blocks, 3 stars to finish,

P1050547

and more redwork blocks.
The block you see here I finished yesterday while watching the Easter crime film on TV.
Easter crime, both in books, in the papers and on film are a tradition in Norway.
Very often the crime films are made like mysteries, going over several evenings - not the shoot and run kind, more like English crime, Agatha Christie and such.

I have looked forward to his Easter visit for ages :-)

An Easter Finish :-)

P1050532

This weekend I nudged my friends May Britt and Bente to do something about this kit we bought in Gothenburg May 2009.

The kit is from Quilt My Design in Denmark, and it was very nicely labelled.
No doubth which piece of fabric going where.

Now I am done with the small sewing kit, measuring 6,5" x 5,25" folded.
A very good size for a bring along sewing kit.

I will take this sewing kit for a trip very soon :-)

More red stitchery :-)

P1050525

I know I should have been working on my Butterfly Garden block or other work instead of these red beauties, but it is love over should-have-done-s ruling the sewing corner these days, while the stomach flu bug is (hopefully) leaving the building.

I have picked and washed fabrics for the framing of these elves blocks, and will be starting it very soon.

P1050530

Thanks to May at Bit for Bit in Sandnessjøen and Janome, I now have a new chargeable table lamp on the warranty, and it is working very well!
It will be a good companion when I am sewing away from home!
I am NOT looking good wearing a head lamp, even if  has been tried effective too ;-)

A surprise gift!

P1050527

I met May Kristin at the meeting last weekend and she handed me this lovely belated PIF gift.
May Kristin does lovely work and I am proud to own it :-)

The pincushion (from Kindred Spirits - one of my favourites), a great little basket, a notepad from Lynette Anderson and a small bottle of hand cleaner, perfect for my upcoming trip :-)

Thank you very much May Kristin!!

I love the thought of impromptu Pay It Forwards, so I will keep the ball rolling in my own way, by sending unexpected mail box joys out every now and then, without being part of any organized system.

I think we all can make a difference for someone :-)

Let me tell you what treasures I bought :-)

 P1050504 P1050505
A nice sewing box :-)

P1050508
Some books and patterns. All the books are Japanese :-)
P1050507
Tape measures and pins in cool boxes.
BTW - Lappemor is expanding her shop - more room for quilting!
I am looking forward to stop by the shop on my way to summer vacation.

P1050511
Nice fabrics, beautiful embroidery floss and some got to haves :-)
P1050506
1 meter cuts on sale Sunday afternoon.  Do you spot several Jo Morton fabrics ? :-)

P1050515
A cool (and true) sign, a wooden spool for ribbons and laces and old fashion boxes for needles.

P1050524
And this little sign for my kitchen.
Little did I know my DD2 made the smoke alarm go off making dinner when I was gone ;-)

Inspired

I should have blogged about what I bought last weekend and a wonderful gift I got, but  have been down with a cold / stomach flu and have not had much energy.

I have been watching several brain dead programs on web TV while drinking gallons of  hot tea and stitched.

P1050512

I have finished these 3 stitcheries for my elf quilt. I have in fact finished 2 more of these to show you tomorrow :-)

After almost 3 days on low speed I guess I am on the mend when I get the itch to do something again ?

P1050517

Miss Cat and I have chilled out big time over the last few days, and she absolutely loves my signature quilt draped in a chair.
She even asks for it when it is not draped, giving me The Look  until I provide the proper draping of the right quilt in the right chair. Never underestimate your cat - you don't own it, it owns you :-)
(Never thought I would ever admit that………. don't hold it against me, please hehehe)

P1050521

I must also admit I (very gently ?) nudged May Britt in to starting this appliqué block today, using the methods Yoko Saito demonstrated last Saturday - no iron involved.
The block is 4" before trimming.
I think I am hooked on the method, having great fun :-)

The block is from a sewing kit kit we bought in Sweden last May.

I think I will take my tired self to bed now.

Stay tuned for updates tomorrow :-)

There were more shops, and I thought I had taken more photos, but this is it.

Many temptations, many impressions, many old friends and even some new friends :-)

What I bought ?
Stay tuned and I will tell :-)
