Something old and something new

Over the last few days there has been some intensive sewing going on in Quilt Corner.
I am re-connecting with my sewing machine again, after a long period of mostly doing hand work.

The plus blocks are so much fun and I am part of a group doing plus blocks right now. The group is called Plus Quilt Sew Along and is an event on Facebook and it also has a hashtag # at Instagram #plusquiltsewalong2016
True to myself, I could not follow the block instructions and alread have other plans going on in my mind.

If you want to see what some of the other plus block girls are up to, take a look at Litamora's blog HERE.

I am enjoying myself cutting 2,5" strips from old and new fabrics, included some Japanese homespuns that have been on the shelf for a long time.

I still need 12 more blocks before I will start joining the quilt - and the quilt will be a surprise for someone special in my life when it is done.

Well - I promised to keep on keeping on doing some old projects too, and the purple one below is the one that gets its daily thread now. It will be a small doily once it is done. The pattern is from Helen Stubbings and I have made it before, in red. Instead of being a gift in 2015, it might be a gift for someone in 2016 - which is not a bad thing either.

Wishing you a lovely day, wherever you are,
Hanne

  1. Those blocks are looking lovely. Love the purple birdie project. It is good to use fabrics we have had for a while. I used some of mine yesterday.

  2. Your hexies work so well with embroidery. The plus blocks are a great way to use jelly rolls so I might have a go at some
