Giveaway results - drumrolls please!

bakeklede broderusk

The deadline is here and the drawing is done!
This lovely pattern from Northern Quilts  is getting new owners :-)

After reading all the comments May Britt and I have now picked three winners who each will get this baking cover pattern in the snail mail.

We were surprised that so many do not know about this tradition with baking covers, so we guess this really is a Norwegian/Scandinavian tradition.

We  hope our postings may have inspired some of you to make your own baking cover and introduce a new tradition in your home.
If you do take the challenge and make one, we will be happy to have a little note about it :-)

A good size for a baking cover is the same size as a tea towel - enough to cover a baking plate.
Let it be made in natural fibres - cotton, linen or a cotton linen mix. You can line it if you like, depending on the top fabric.

And then to the winners - drumrolls and trumpet fanfares please!

Marie - C textiles

The patterns are put in envelopes ready to be posted, they are just waiting for some addresses to be written on, so please email me or May Britt your addresses.

More on the baking cover pattern giveaway - a change of rules

P1070035

May Britt and myself have learned over the last few days that the decorated baking covers seems to be mostly a Scandinavian tradition and that it is more common to use a regular tea towel in other parts of Europe and in other parts the world.

The more a reason to enter the giveaway! :-)

But - in order for you to do so we have to change the rules a bit, to fit reality:

1. You have to have a blog AND you have to be reachable by mail.
2. Tell us what you like the best to bake - bread or cakes
3. Make a blog post about baking if you will - it will make it fun for us to visit your blog

The deadline for the entries will still be Wednesday at 6 pm ( noon New York time)

*******

The rhyme on the baking cover goes:

In Norwegian:

Bake bake kake
Rulle rulle bolle
Ringle ringle kringle
og puff inn i ovnen

Translated to English (not included in the pattern):

Bake bake cake
Roll roll bun
Twist twist pretzel
and in the oven it goes

*******

My girls learned this rhyme in kindergarten, complete with arm movements, and it is so fun to stitch - I aim at finishing the stitchery today.
It is not unlikely I will make more than one of these baking covers in  a while :-)

Visit May Britt's blog to see the stitchery for the pattern in the pattern giveaway finished.

Our friend Bente finished this baking cover this weekend - isn't it cute?

More baking covers - and a challenge / give away.

P1060987

All good things do not always come to an end :-)
May Britt, Bente and myself are having a Start of Advent weekend together.
We are all stitching on baking covers, and we are having a great time!
Above is mine, from Northern Quilts, in variegated blue Cosmo thread.

Next is Bente's gingerbread men, embroidered with 2 colours of brown DMC floss.

P1060991

This is May Britt's baking cover, partly hidden in her new Christmas box - the same design as the one I am doing.

P1060994

Bente brought this lovely vintage baking cover for us to admire.
She has got it as a gift many years ago from a lady she knew, Mrs. Monsen - see the beautiful monogram. The baking cover  is now more than 70 years old.

A challenge for you, if you like to have it:

Make a blog post about your baking cover(s).
If you are so inclined, please tell a good memory about baking too :-)

May Britt and I have 3 baking cover patterns from Northern Quilts, sponsored by Wenche at Northern quilts,  that you may win. They are in Norwegian, and with Norwegian text on the stitchery, but you can easily change the text to your own language and/or stitch the baking goods only.

Let us know in our comment sections about your blog post and we will visit your blog.
The challenge ends at Wednesday December 1st., at 6 pm Norwegian time,  which is noon New York  time.

We will draw the prices in the evening on Wednesday.

Have fun :-)

Christmas shopping anyone ? Giveaway

I don't know if I have told you that I don't like plastic shopping bags, but that is how it is - I don't like plastic shopping bags!
Hence that, I avoid plastic bags when I can, but when it is appropriate I bring used plastic shopping bags so I don't have to keep a cupboard full here at home - and save some money too.

Christmas shopping calls for a Christmas shopping bag, don't you think ? :-)
This one is my latest creation, complete with an open inside pocket, a fabric chain for a carabine hook where you can keep your keys or money purse - or as here, where I have attached a zipper closed pocket which also doubles as a makeup purse.
You can close the shopping bag with a loop and a button if you like.
I have chosen to put the loop from the front and back so it is not so easy to put a hand inside the bag.

The shopping bag is not very big - 15" wide and 14" high, with a 3" bottom.
I am a smallish lady - a huge shopping bag would be uncomfortable to carry around.

If you would like to have one of my patterns, please leave a message on this post, and if you can, post about it on your blog too.
If you don't have a blog, use the envelope under this post and send me a message, and I will add your name to the drawing.
I'll draw 2 names next Monday.

Edit: I will include an English translation if needed, and I have no limits to where I am sending :-)

I have released my first pattern for sale!
It is out in 2 shops from this week :-)

Quilte.net, a Norwegian internet shop, carries it on their website already.

This calls for a little Snoopy dance and a giveaway :-)

The Christmas stocking measures 9" x 7,5".

The pattern is in Norwegian, but I will enclose an English translation if you like.

To qualify for the giveaway, leave a comment on my blog, and post about the giveaway on your blog.

If you don't have a blog you can join in anyway.
Under this post you can see a small white envelope. Click on it and send me a mail directly.

Next Saturday, October 4th, I will draw 2 winners.

The best of luck to you all :-)
