Busy sewing day

Today has been a busy sewing day indeed.

A group of my online friends - May Britt, Nancy, Sigrun, Sølvi and myself -  met on Messenger and worked together from 3 pm until about 10 pm, meeting online at 6 pm, 8 pm and 10 pm.
We have chatted and egged each other on, and we all have results to show.
Those saying internet steals sewing time should have sewn with us today!

I have machine quilted around all the blocks on the Snowman Collector quilt, 2 rounds, zig zag-ed the outer edge and cut the edge clean.
I still have one round of machine quilting to do around each block, and the hand quilting around the applique, but since the quilt is coming with me to the local show this weekend, for "show and sew" it does not matter if I have done some of the stages in a strange order ;-)
I will see if I have fabric suitable to add the binding tomorrow morning - if not, I will just work on the hand quilting.

In between I have made a small makeup purse for a gift.
My DD2 is going to a 16th birthday party tomorrow and she ordered a makeup purse in the colours matching the recipient's handball suit.
My DD2 had the layout in mind, and she is happy with the result.
The purse will be given with some money or some makeup - whatever suits the young giver tomorrow after school.

Project progress

Days are flying by!

The Snowman Collector quilt is ready for quilting - finally.
I planned to use cotton batting and thought I had a new packet of it, but fact is that I have only pieces suitable for smaller quilts.
I found a packet of wool batting on the shelf and thought, why not - use it!
I have never used wool batting before, but if I don't give it a try I will not know how it is either.

I will quilt all the frames around the applique blocks by machine and quilt around the applique by hand.
My original plan was to finish this quilt by this upcoming weekend, for the bi-annual local quilt show, but as you see, I did not make it.
Life has a way of interfering with quilting sometimes.
It will get done in 2007 though, and this is my one and only old Ufo right now :-)

The Peace and Plenty stitchery from Leanne's workshop in Trysil is done though, and will get a fabric border and framing tomorrow. It looks Good :-)

Hanne's November Challenge

I enjoy giving myself a challenge, so November is no exception :-)

You see the Snowman Collector BOM - lacking one border - I am making this one into a generous lap quilt for the living room.
If I can, I will love to have this quilt done by next Friday, for my local guild's bi-annual show.
I will machine quilt the frames and sashing, and add hand quilting around the applique later.

Leanne's House BOM is still with me - all blocks pieced, block # 6 nearly done. I lack the stitchery and applique on the last 3 blocks + joining, border and hand quilting.
I don't think I can finish it this month, but I know I will move it in the right direction by making myself accountable.

The Peace and Plenty stitchery from Leanne's class - I will love to have it finished to the show if I can!

A little Bronwyn Hayes stitchery - cushion for the show ?

Nearly Insane red and white blocks - goal is to add more blocks to the box. I have ordered machine quilting for this quilt in the spring..... Optimist - yes, that's me :-)

Do you enjoy a challenge ?
Feel free to join in the fun !
