Tour de Fibre–catching up

It has been nearly 3 weeks since I last blogged…..
It was not intended, but life happened, in so many ways – some good, some not so good.

Here are some of the good things – my finishes :-)
Above – the Just Plain Nuts quilt is done, binding and all. I wonder if I should put a sleeve on the back, as the quilt is going to Birmingham with my machine quilter shortly.

I got a small piece of this New York fabric for my birthday, just the right size to make DD2 a small coin purse for her birthday.
You might remember she lived in New York a year ago, and I got to visit her in April last year.

We were together with friends when this fabric was bought, in the shop The City Quilter in New York and we have been to some of the places on the fabric together, like Grand Central Station and Greenwich Village :-)

Digging into the Ufos and Wisps:

How true, and something to keep in mind in a few months :-)

I had 3 care quilt tops ready to be quilted. Now they are done, and sent in to the care quilt coordinator.

I have lost the passion for making care quilts, so these are the last ones from my sewing machine.
14 years,
over 100 care quilts,
and a gazillion hours "in the service".
I wonder how many yards of fabric, how many yards of batting, how many spools of thread, and hours of driving I have been putting into the care quilt project over the years. Not few......

Life goes on, and it is good to take inventory and move forward.
More time to focus and quilt on :-)

These potholders are made from the best pieces of an old denim shirt, and is part of a gift for my favourite brother in law, who is a passionate BBQ man, together with a good steak knife and a box of marinade seasoning.

This stitchery is just framed with a binding, like the traditional tablecloth style, and the stitchery do not have any knots or threads wandering on the back side either. My craft teacher from school would be proud of me :-)

What happened to the angel quilt?
The top is done, but I have not done any machine quilting yet.

More Tour de Fibre

I am still working on my angel quilt, and it is coming along
– and it is fun to see the progress :-)

I have sorted through all my fabrics and I think I have found enough of the right kind of blues to finish the angel quilt without buying or having to ask friends for help.

Some days I have done like Miss Cat – resting

The Ring of Roses table runner top is done, with my own colours. It was nice to do the stitchery out on the veranda when the weather was nice.

I needed a new toiletry purse, and this one was fun to do :-)

Today I made this little makeup purse.
You can see it is not big if you know the strips of fabrics are cut 2,5”.
It is flying by snail mail to a new owner as we speak :-)

Tour de Fibre–day 6 and day 7

Part 2 of 4 of An Angels Story is done :-)

It is fun to see this quilt slowly coming together.
I am planning to quilt it myself, in sections. As you see, the parts are not the same size or shape, and it will be a centre set in, at the end. Doing this quilt Quilt-as-you-go might turn out to be a challenge, but I think I will go for it anyway :-)
Another challenge is if I do have enough of the pale blue fabrics to make all the squares…..
Some of the fabrics are rather old and I can not buy more.
Never a dull moment in the Quilt Corner!

Tour de Fibre pit stop at Trådsnella :-)

I have been thinking hard about which fabric to use for the border for this table topper, and I decided to bring the project to Trådsnella, my local shop in Lørenskog, and get some help from Marianne.
I found a good fabric, with the help of DD1 and Marianne :-)

Marianne always has temptations in the shop:

I am so happy I have this shop close to my home.
Marianne does mail order too, in case you see something you like.
I always find something here :-)

Tour de Fibre–day 2 and day 3

Sunday we were able to sit on the veranda for a while, and even if it was not very hot, it was good to get some fresh air.

From a distance we could watch the yellow sparrows feeding their young ones and giving them lessons of life.

One of May Britt’s old Ufos – it deserves to be finished!

This is May Britt’s An Angels Story quilt top. We did the blocks together in 2007 / 2008. The blocks we have looks nearly identical – the framing colours makes all the difference!

Monday morning – these are the Ufos I have picked for this week.
I am not sure how much I can get done, but I will do my best to move all of the forward.

These are the upper left quarter of my An Angels Story quilt

The first block framed – I am doing a happy dance – I love the colours and how it turned out!
I hope to finish this quilt top through the Tour de Fibre :-)
